| Act of Contrition (prayer) |
|
Mother Ximenes' Handbook for Grade School Nuns features a section that points out how difficult it is to make a perfect Act of Contrition before death [St. Fidgeta & Other Parodies, 108].
[The Curse of the Blue Figurine, 78]
One of the more common Catholic prayers. It is often defined as a sorrow of soul and a hatred of sin committed, with a firm purpose of not sinning in the future:
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin.
