Keller family

The Keller family - Ernest and Evelyn and son, David – have moved to New Zebedee and purchased the Hawaii House. Ernest works at New Zebedee’s post office [The House where Nobody Lived; 131] and Evelyn seemingly is a housewife.

David is a shy, skinny boy who attends public school and is befriended by Lewis Barnavelt and Rose Rita Pottinger when, on his first day, he runs afoul of the bullies that run the school. Lewis later discovers where his family has moved, and he and David are able to move about inside the house to discover its supernatural history. David has a pronounced speech impediment, wherein he stutters, but is later able to control it after seeing a therapist in Ann Arbor.

David is later seen attending the end-of-school party at the Barnavelt house [The Sign of the Sinister Sorcerer].

Naming

Coincidence or not, David shares a name with David H. Keller (1880-1966), an American author in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres.
