| Semina, Saint |
|
Mother Ximenes' Handbook for Grade School Nuns features a section that discusses ways to turn any parish's procession into a spectacular event - or close to it [St. Fidgeta & Other Parodies, 112-3].
It is noted - and suggested to teachers - that students be told the U.S. record for collected prayers is held by a grade school named for this saint. The school once amassed 9,686,723 Hail Mary's, together with a comparable number of Our Father's and Solemn Doxologies, in two months.
There is obviously no Saint Semina and no particular hidden meaning. The word is derived from the Latin for seed, the same as "seminary" for that matter, and maybe even "sermon," says Myers. |
