Two of John Bellairs’ books were adapted into television programs in the late 1970s. Rumors of full-length feature film adaptations of his books have been discussed online since the mid-1990s with each tantalizing rumor dying out due to lack of further confirmation. Given the popularity of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Chronicles of Narnia series, and the on-going Harry Potter films, one would imagine the adventures of Lewis Barnavelt and Johnny Dixon – or even Prospero and Roger Bacon - would be worthy enough to translate to the big screen.
