Fictional road in Rome where the Secretariat on Saintliness met to discuss St. Floradora; at number 68 [St. Fidgeta & Other Parodies, 81].
Caligula (A.D. 12-41) was a Roman emperor (A.D. 37-41); real name Caius Caesar Germanicus. As a small child, he wore military boots, whence his nickname [little boot]. Shortly after he accession to emperor he became severely ill; it is widely believed that he was thereafter insane. He earned a reputation for ruthless and cruel autocracy, torture and execution. He was assassinated by a tribune of the Praetorian Guard and succeeded by Claudius I. French author Albert Camus wrote a play about Caligula in 1944 and in 1979, actor Malcolm McDowell portrayed the emperor in the film version of Caligula's life and times.
