| Wolohan, Arthur "Dutch" |
Asks the Question Box, "My kids keep pestering me for money to ransom pagan babies [St. Fidgeta & Other Parodies, 41].
Bowen thinks the name 'Dutch' is just a made-up one. "A lot of people with German surnames used to be given the nickname 'Dutch,' back in my father's time. Perhaps John noticed that some people who were not German, or even Dutch, still were inexplicably nicknamed Dutch."
As far as ransoming pagan babies, see collections. |
