Inspiration for the
Public Library
of Hoosac, Minnesota
111 East Mansion Street
This is the original Marshall Public Library, built in 1913 and known today as the Lund Memorial Library.
It inspired the public library in Hoosac, Minnesota where Miss Eells was the librarian and Anthony worked as a library page.
The library had a "little flight of inside steps that led to the main floor", a tower room reachable only by stairs in the furnace room. The treasure of Alpheus Winterborn is found by Anthony in the weather-vane on top of the library tower.
